Judge and Timer Ready? The Phoenix Forensics Team Competes at the Regional Tournament

Forensics is a public speaking competition that showcases high school students in a multitude of different categories ranging from “Public Address” to “Interpretation.” The IA Phoenix Forensics team travels to between three and five invitationals per year, all throughout Michigan, in hopes of qualifying for the regional and state competitions in the spring.

Well indeed they did.  The phoenix forensics team travelled to Walled Lake Western to compete in the regional championships.  The team finished in 2nd place in their region and had 15 competitors qualify for the state competition.

The State qualifiers are:

Broadcasting – Adrianna Kallabat (‘21)

Extemporaneous – Riya Munot (‘21)

Oratory – Iman Qureshi (‘19), Jewel Evans (‘19) (Regional Champion)

Sales – Pratham Goswami (‘19), Harshit Tewari (‘18)

Impromptu 9-10 Teya Purimetla (‘20), Vivian Yee (‘20)

Duo – Olivia (‘18) and Vanessa (‘20) Kiefer (regional champion)

Multiple – Sky High (Saya Takai (‘18), Laith Miller (‘18), Dia Camara (‘20) , Gabe Stach (‘21) , Mikaeyla Connelly (‘18))

Poetry –  Ama Sarpomaa (‘19) (Regional Champion)

Impromptu – Jonah Liss (21)  (Alternate)

Storytelling – Adriana Doria (‘19)

Storytelling 9/10 – Emilie Pedretti (‘21), Matthew Younan (‘21)

Informative – Yeon Woo Lee (‘21), Stephen Bojanowski (‘19) (Alternate)

The state competition will be held at Oakland Community College in Auburn Hills Michigan the weekend of April 27-28.  The team continues it final preparations before this exciting competition.
